Podere Borgaruccio is one of the ancient estates of Peccioli (Pisa). When Countess Matteucci in the 50s found herself in economic difficulties, she sold her land to those sharecroppers who would have cultivated it for more than half. At Podere Borgaruccio the vineyard exists since the arrival of man and here, since ever, autochthonous vines are cultivated.
Today the winery is owned by a young and dynamic group of entrepreneurs, who want to value and express the best of the art of rural hospitality and Tuscan enology, with their landscapes, rhythms and traditions.
Vineyards, set in the middle of a wood, are spread for more than 5 hectares (5 acres), with plots of land dating back to the early 1970's and other more recent ones dating back to 2010. They are cultivated with guyot and spurred cordon systems with more than 4,500 vines per Ha. Among our vineyards you will find the classic Tuscan grapes, Sangiovese for red wines and Trebbiano for white wines with some modern nuances such as Cabernet and Malvasia. Wide and ambitious projects of ampelographic expansion are in progress in order to always improve our wines.
The winery is made of a modern building, provided with spaces and technologies that allow us to preserve and enhance the fruit of the land, turning it into excellent wine. We alternate wine vats in steel, vitrified cement, barrels and barriques, wisely used according to the production styles; all with cold chain management.
